AHRC - NWO Humanities Research Networking and Exchange Scheme

Line of action : Consolidating strengths
Secretariat : GW
Apply : Yes, but at a later stage

Objective

The Research Networking and Exchange Scheme is intended to support forums for the discussion and exchange of ideas on a specified thematic area, issue or problem between researchers based in the Netherlands and UK. Networking activities can include short-term series of workshops, seminars, networking activities or other events. The exchange element is to facilitate a coordinated programme of exchanges involving the exchange of several people, and can be for postgraduate students or early career researchers as well as more established academics.

The aim of these activities is to stimulate new debate across boundaries, for example, disciplinary, conceptual, theoretical, methodological, and internationally. Proposals should explore new areas, be bi-national and can include creative or innovative approaches or entrepreneurship. Awards made under this call are intended to enable researchers to share ideas, to develop collaborative proposals or publications, and to support engagement between scholars in the UK and the Netherlands, and between scholars and other stakeholders. Proposals must justify the approach taken and clearly explain the novelty or added value for bringing the network participants together.

As well as being within the remit of both funding councils, proposed networks and exchanges must target one of the two priority areas that have been identified for this funding opportunity; these are:

  • Sustainable Communities in a changing world
  • Cultural Interactions of Research
