Four new Integrated Programmes awarded

As result of the Integrated Programmes subsidy of 2010, the WOTRO board awarded four new Integrated Programmes. Each programme consists of three or more (inter)related Ph.D. and/or post-doc projects. The Integrated Programme scheme is aimed at supporting excellent problem-oriented interdisciplinary research to the benefit of development and societal issues in developing countries.

The following programmes have been awarded with a grant:

• Development as a Trojan Horse? Foreign Large-scale Land Acquisitions in Ethiopia, Madagascar and Uganda
• Gulf-state concessions in Indonesia and the Philippines: Contested control of agricultural land and foodcrops
• Positive Deviance as a Catalyst for Sustainable Food Production and Nutrition in the Andes
• Escaping the middle-income country trap: targeted and pragmatic policies for technological upgrading and worker-inclusive industrial strategies as drawn from firm-level analysis of the Philippines and Thailand.
