Coastal research Netherlands-Indonesia

East Kalimantan

Line of action : Consolidating strengths
Secretariat : WOTRO
Participants : ALW
Apply : No, a new round is (still) uncertain

Objective

East Kalimantan (EKP) aims to enhance and support long-term scientific cooperation in coastal zone research between research groups from Indonesia and the Netherlands. The geographical focus of the EKP is on the coastal areas of the Mahakam delta and the Berau region. In specific cases, if the research demands, the study of adjacent and related areas may be included as well. The scientific goals of the programme are outlined in the Programme Document.

The programme aims on research of interrelations between natural processes, variability, values and human induced environmental changes, institutions and management. For proper understanding of the dynamics of coastal systems and in search of modes for sustainable use of natural resources and services, a multi-disciplinary approach is needed, taking into account both the relationships between the different components of coastal systems, the socio-economical aspects which drive human activities and the role of governance.

The second call has been reopened for revised applications with a specific focus. See the full text of the Call and the Programme Document for details.
