This second Violence Against Psychiatric Patients call is not aimed primarily at increasing theoretical knowledge, but at developing and researching the effectiveness of practical interventions for the mental health care assistance. An important theme is violence against psychiatric patients and the relation to discrimination, stigmatization and capacity of being an offender in the Netherlands. A concrete project plan must be detailed into a final application, aimed at interventions that may be deployed in mental health care.
Who can apply
Principal applicants who participated in the ‘Violence Against Psychiatric Patients’ subsidy round 2009 may apply. They will be personally invited to participate.
What can be applied for
Subsidies for (the set-up of) practical interventions. An application for subsidy may be made to cover both personnel and material costs necessary for (the set-up of) the practical intervention. The maximum amount that can be applied for is €800,000 per project.

- Closing date for submitting applications is 14 August 2012, 23:59 hrs.
Extra Information
This subsidy round is a continuation of the research programme ‘Violence Against Psychiatric Patients’, this time aimed at practical interventions. Participation takes place upon invitation. In consideration of the special character of this subsidy instrument the programme committee has decided not to make use of (external) references.
Criteria
The research must be aimed at developing and researching the effectiveness of practical interventions for the mental health care assistance. Further assessment criteria are academic significance, programme significance, quality of the application and financial/technical criteria. For more information see the programme brochure.
Procedure
According to the procedure the assessment committee will make recommendations, interviews will be held with the applicants and subsequently the assessment committee will present a prioritization proposal to the programme committee. The programme committee shall decide on the final grant of the application. For more information see the programme brochure.
Budget
The budget for this subsidy grant amounts to approximately € 3,000,000.
