93 Preliminary Applications Conflict and Security received

The call for proposals on the theme Conflict and Security is closed and 93 preliminary applications were received. Submission of preliminary applications was compulsory. The preliminary applications will now undergo an assessment by the Scientific Advisory Board and the Societal Panel. The outcome of the assessment is expected in December. In February is the deadline for full proposals. Ultimately, approximately 10 applications can be granted by the Conflict and Security theme committee.

The following five program lines were part of the call:

1. Ethnic conflict in local communities and societies;
2. Conflict around work and organizations;
3. Framing conflict in culture, politics, and science;
4. Conflict escalation, justice and intervention; and
5. Conflict and religion.

For the sixth program line, Natural Resources and Conflict, the call for proposals will be announced in of the last quarter of 2008 . More information about this program line and call will be published on the web site www.nwo.nl/conflict.
