Cultural Dynamics Programme open for applications

Preproposals for the programme Cultural Dynamics can be submitted from 10 April until the deadline of 22 May 2007 at 12:00 hours. At the end of June 2007, the Cultural Dynamics' Programme Committee will announce which preproposals have received a positive recommendation for further elaboration. The call for proposals and the programme brochure are available on the website in Dutch. The English version will appear as soon as possible and will be announced through the WOTRO Newsflash. The focus of the research programme lies in the formation of cultural heritage as a dynamic, societal process that is crucial for the (re)defining of identities of individuals, groups and nations. An understanding of that complex process of cultural heritage formation in the Western and non-Western world makes an important contribution to solving problems related to social cohesion. Main themes in the programme are citizenship and identity; canon formation; creative design and innovation; intermediality; and popular culture. The programme is a collaboration between the NWO divisions Humanities, Social Sciences and WOTRO.
