Objective
In this programme NWO cooperates with a number of government departments which seek attention for their questions about social cohesion in Dutch society. The research results enable them to gain perspectives that are relevant to government policy.

The Social Cohesion programme consists of two component programmes: the Dutch Multicultural and Pluriform Society (MPS) and Social Participation, Commitment and Bonding (PBB). Both have their own angle and clearly complement each other. Part of the Social Cohesion programme is a subsidy for international exchange: the Social Cohesion Travel Fund.
Selection
Procedure
The component programmes MPS and PBB are supervised by the MPS and PBB steering groups, which are accountable to a coordinating programme council installed by NWO's Governing Board. The programma council consists of:
- a president
- representatives of the cofinancing departments and of the NWO Councils for the Humanities and Social Sciences
- the presidents of both steering groups.
